Improvements to the forum??

Post by wirelesspacket »

I am new to the forum.. (waves)

I do believe archiving all older topics would be very helpful.. Just dump old threads into an archive thread. Lets say anything older then 3 months???

Then there would be very little action here at all. :)

I like the idea...I wonder if they have a MOD that will do that automatically?

Just so you know...the box on the front page shows the ten most recent posts, so we don't have to scan the boards that often. And I did add an RSS feed about a month or two ago.

Aww but if we archived our old stuff, we wouldn't be able to go back and see our stupid rants and rediculous arguments!
Bleh, Signatures mean nothing to me!

The thing I don't like about IP is the price tag. This a negative profit business, so I try to minimize expenses. Besides...I love what a get for the $$$ with phpbb. I just wish I had the time to customize it.

I used to use the themes, but updating them was a pain...so I just use what ever comes out.

Take a look at what one of our sponsors has done with phpBB.

I wish I had the time for that...

I did reduce the number of topics on a page so that the most recent stuff is on the first page...Does that help?

oohhhh...I just had a thought...I could install a second instance of phpBB and move the old topics over there. Again...it would be a problem to search, but hmmm. I will tell you this...I like the fact that all the posts go back to the beginning of time...when we get nostalgic, we can go back in time and look at the things we did, and the stuff going on.
