EA to shutdown BF2 Masterservers 6/30/14

EA has announced that they will shutdown the BF2 master servers as of 6/30/14.

Bad move on their part. EA has been changing gears lately to a different approach less friendly. The new Battlefield is nothing compared to how we know and love it. Its not about conquering objectives. Not liking the new changes. Wish someone brought back player run servers that are dedicated.

This is the same company that fired the original staff that made BF1942, shutdown Madden servers after only two years, forced SimCity require an internet connect only to have the servers get overwhelmed and crash and countless other BS. There's a reason I don't buy EA games and it's sad. I did want to play the newer American McGee's Alice. This has been happening for awhile .

There may be hope.

I was checking out the patch that the BF2:PR (Project Reality) team put together to continue to play PR beyond the GS Shutdown. Someone asked the obvious question, and someone else pointed the user here:
